No, I have no pictures. I didn't think to take my camera as I didn't need pics for insurance or anything. I forgot about this place needing pics...lol

It wasn't twisted or anything. It looked like it was cut in half. Literally. Kind of at an angle. It was under one of the main bearings. It looked like the center of it was twisted when you hit it with a flashlight just right, but it's hard to see. The engine is getting sent back to Ford so they can figure out what happened.

Ford is being very nice. Free oil changes for a year. (that means like 1 oil change for me)

I'm only "taking it well" because there isn't a darn thing I can do about it at the moment. I would like to know how it happened, but the mechanics are all scratching their heads.
I hear your pain friend: My engine is also toast but they won't replace it under warantee because an injector caused it... Go figure.

Got my truck back. Runs great. Thanks, Ford!! I have to update my Edge software though. It has a different hex code, so I guess they updated the PCM, or changed it out also. Anybody know if the PCM's are matched to the engine somehow?

I have heard on diesel forums that ford sometimes that the pcm be sent back to them for further analysis (tuner detection) after an engine failure, Hope they just updated it and didn't send it back.

It's a little over a year old, and only had 8500 miles on it.

I have an exhaust leak on the right bank, all the way in the back. Anybody know the erector set wrench combination I need to use to get to the bolt on the exhaust manifold? It looks impossible to tighten with the engine in, so I'll assume that's why it's not tight.

I need to be able to get a socket on it. Using a mirror and a flashlight, it looks like it's cracked. It's Saturday. I'm going to take it back and get an 09. This seems like it's going to be nothing but problems. New engine, with the old-style plugs when I had a new one, with the 1-piece plugs, the Edge wouldn't work with it anymore, even with an update, and now it has an exhaust leak. That's not a Ford issue (the engine was) but it's a mechanic issue. Might get a new King Ranch 08 if the deal's right. Dealership told me if I wasn't happy, to bring it back and they would get me in something else. (of course they'd tell me that)

of course they'll get you into something else..."just bend over now"

so you had the new plugs, and now have the old style? sucks, but not that big a deal IMO.

I would just let them fix that exhaust manifold. You've already taken a huge depreciation hit, and then you'll get nailed with another one
