Need Help On Airbag Install Please

HI,

I installed the 2330 firestone kit on my f250. The kit mounts on the inside of the frame. I need to fab some custom spacers since i have a set of 5" Deaver springs and the kits are basically made for trucks that have been raised with blocks....NO BLOCKS HERE, ALL SPRING. The distance from the hanging bag (deflated and suspension weight on the tires) to the bottom plate where the bag bolts too is 2.5".

My question:

When the bag is installed is it IDEAL for the bag to remain in it's normal shape or should it be a little compressed before inflation?

Personally it makes more sense for the bag to be normal and not compressed before inflation.

What do you guys think?

when i installed mine in my previous truck firestone says dont allow bags to deflate lower than 10 psi, when not inflated for use.

You are not going to want to install the bags without building a spacer to get it to proper placement. If you go over a bump and the suspension hangs you could rip. It should be pretty easy to build a block out of square tube, and some longer bolts.

Thanks.....Im not sure you guys understand my question. I fully understand the minimum pressure...... The spacer is a no brainer.......my question is should I "build" the spacer to the dimensions that allow the airbag to be in an UNLOADED state before inflation? I'm pretty certain the airbag should be unloaded and uncompressed in it's uninflated state.

MAKE SENSE?

Thanks

Joe You are right. If you install it compressed & uninflated, when you air it up you will lift you truck. Plus when articulating the bag would bottom out quicker. Oh ya, cool avatar. Colin

Many times it DOES lift the truck... that's what its designed for. I had to stretch mine to get it to fit in the first time. Either way it'll go in as designed... they don't make these things requiring custom fabrication work

grafekie,

They only sell spacers in whole # dimensions, not .5 increments. This is why I need to make a custom spacer.

My kit states that the installed height between the brackets should be 5 to 6.5 inches, does your's have some dimension like that? Or am I just not seeing what your talking about? Also I guess that they're saying that the bag can be compressed somewhat at installation.

He has 5 inches of lift & it`s all spring so the bottom mount for the bag is 5 inches lower than stock. there only desighned for a certain amount of travel, your going to have to fab A bracket to get that 5` back.
