That's exactly what I told him in the other forum, but he's still goin on about it...I guess no work yet though; I'll cross my fingers that another Ford truck doesn't get butchered.

LAST EDITED ON 15-Nov-00 AT 09:45 PM (EST)[p]Hmm, easy way to lower a Ford truck, hmm, take the wheels off....... Or pull the front I-beams, flip 'em over and bolt 'em back in, that should change the trucks altitude by ~5 or 6"... oops, that would lift it, hmm, a set of lowering I-beams installed upside down would lift the truck, might not work on anything newer than a 79....wonder if they'd warranty them??
Fact of life: Lowering a truck is stupid!

Best way to lower your truck is with a pair of dropped I-Beams. There are several companies that make them, just look in one of the street truck mags, and there are even lowering coils readily availible for many year models. I'm currently investigating the possibility of having custom dropped spindels made so that I can lower my Twin I-Beam Ford even lower.

I lowered my 77 stepside with drop beams from PBI. Then I had two coils cut out to get it even lower. It puts alot of low ridin chebbys to shame. As for those who think the only thing to do with a truck, is lift it, get your head out of the clouds and come back down to earth. Lower it, you won't be disappointed.

lift em, or leave em alone, look out for speed bumps, or anything else such as a little bump in the road, it gets old waiting in a line of traffic for a lowered truck to snake out onto the road trying to keep from scraping anything, besides big trucks don't look good lowered, kinda like a whale on land, these trucks are big, meant to be feared and admired, not laughed at.

those who put down lowering should try it, there's nothing like it. this one is 4/6

this one is 5/7

just nothing like lowering everything, and making a good truck great

well man, i have an 88 f150 that i lowered using dropped i beams(djm makes them, belltech, aim, chassis tech, to name a few) and i also have belltech 2 inch lowered springs and a flip kit. this results in a 5/7 drop. if you dont want to go that low you do either the lowered springs or the ibeams but not both. and for the rear you might wanna use lowered hangers and hangers(2-5 inches i think). but if you go more than a couple of inches in the back you'll have to do a c notch in the frame for more travel and in the front you'll just need new shocks(not toxic shox, they SUCK). and you'll also need some slightly lower profile tires if you decide to go way down. but as for the look, some people hate it, but i think that whatever you do to your truck to customize it, its respectable. hope this helps man,
mike
