wheel bearings ?
here's the deal. I gotta 97 F150 4x4 this morning my front differential housing busted loose from the frame when i got stuck in a snow drift so for a temporary fix so i could drive it for a couple days i just dropped the front driveshaft, differential, and removed the cv shafts. my question is with the cv shafts removed, does that expose the wheel bearings? the reason i ask is because when i was driving the 3 miles back home after i took everything out, i got just about home and it seemed like the front end was starting to drag or got hard to roll.

the sealed bearing unit is two parts, held together by the half shaft and the nut on the outside torqued to 200 ft pounds. if you take the shaft out, you would need to install a bolt and nut thru the hole and torque it to hold the bearing halfs together. i hate to tell you, but your bearings are ruined.
