I have a '99 F350. I wrote about my truck leaking oil. I found it was coming from one of the plugs in the back of the HPOP. I took the plug out and found the o-ring was bad. I went down to the parts house and got a new o-ring. I replaced it and it stopped leaking for about a couple days. Then I found it was leaking again from the same place. I took the plug off again and the o-ring was bad again. I thought it might have been that I tightened the plug to tight. I replaced it again and like last time it worked for about a couple days and now it is leaking again. I am moving out of state and I need to be able to drive it long distance. What could be wrong? could I be using the wrong o-ring? If so, where can I get the right one? I only have about a week to fix it.
would you happen to know where I could get those o-rings. I am tired of messing with the parts house not knowing what I need. Maybe you could give me the part number or the size and type of o-ring. Thanks
I think if the truth were known, the o-ring is unnecessary. I believe it it the LocTite alone that's doing the sealing. If pressure gets by it, the o-ring blows out.
He's been seeing that!
But the threads, both sides, have to be spotlessly free of oil when the LocTite is applied to only the first three male threads.
