i purposly back into stuff all the time like dumpsters and stuff the guy that empties the dumpster at my apts.always puts it back where its hard for me to back into my spot so i relocate it.still havent hurt my truck, the hitch usually does the work though.but thats the nice thing about these trucks they are pretty stout
Reminds me of a kid my class:
His girl friend just got her license, and she wrecked HER new mercedes. And guess what her parents bought her...A NEW PORSCHE SUV!!!!!
Looks like some one is trying to keep the economy going by scrapping new cars. Hey, they dumped milk in the ocean to try and prevent a drop in price, why not cars?
Its not like the porsche cayenne is good for much else.
It scares the hell out of me to think I have to share the road with people like that. These old trucks are tough, but even old ford steel can get pretty plyable at the speeds some of these kids crash at.
Joe, don't get to down, because no matter what he gets or doesn't get, it can't affect what or who you are. In 10, 20, heck even 30 years when life goes to crap for him because he doesn't know what true respect and courtesy is, and he will have no clue of how to work, you will be happy and content because everything you have you will have earned and if something happens and you get knocked down, you will have true friends to help you up.
For example, people make fun of my trucks because even my 88 is by far the oldest and *ugliest* truck at my school. But, as I told a girl who I was walking beside because she was parked next to me, when she asked me, why I keep buying old worn out trucks, and why do I like my old worn out truck. I responded because this is all I can afford (hey I'm still in high school with almost zero support from my parents) and I most of all I love my trucks because they are mine, no one can take them from me. I have earned these trucks, pampered these trucks, and grown with these trucks.
Yep, there's a lot to say for having *earned* what you have. Usually, if you work at it long enough and have a little extra ambition, things get better. When I was a kid in high school in the 70s, I had a Falcon. All the other (cool) kids drove souped up mustangs and cameros. I still have my '64 since I knew if I wrecked it I'd be walking ... looking back, I now realize I had it pretty good back then, but was caught up in putting myself down...
When I think of those I've looked up to and respected the most over the years, it's the ones who worked hard their whole life -- and none of them died poor or without real friends.

Its rare here to see a 10 year old car in the high school parking lot much less 20 but when I do Ive got automatic respect for that kid.
Im 38 now and on two seperate occasions Ive had two seperate class mates (which both drove mommy/daddy cars) wait on me at two seperate retail stores. ITS ALL GOOD
By the way my high school car was a 79 Toyota celica with exactly one gallon of bondo in various body panels and a rattle can paint job. $300 talked down to $275
You said his Mommy has money tell him 1,000 pluss parts, If they can aford to buy a kid a gift like that and repaint it because he doesn't like the color that should seem like a bargone to them.
Its kids and parents like that that are ruining this country, I had to buy my first car an 85 jeep cj7. I had to drive that thing all threw high school and to my job one town over with no doors and only a bikini top on it, While all the other kids had brand new cars mom and dad payed for. We have all these spoild codled kids running around that have no idea what work is and have never been picked on all there lives. They grow up expecting everything to be handed to them or when some one does pic on them they go crazy.
Joe you got the wrong about what Christmas is about it is not about what you get.
I have always thought that parents giving their kids a new vehicle does not really do them a favor as most kids not all by any means do not appreciate and take care of it.
This to me is something that cost the kids in the long run as they have to learn for themselves later in life.
Also no matter what a guy ends up doing for a living being mechanically inclined and the common sense you tend to get owning maintaining and repairing an older vehicle goes a long way later in life.
Part of last Christmas I spent at a gate in wyoming waiting for the road to open.
The year before was spent in fairbanks (lots of friends) but not the same as your own family.
This year was not a big year present wise but I was where I was supposed to be so it was a GREAT CHRISTMAS. My son did give me a snap on rechargable led trouble light something that I will probably use longer than that new superduty duty lasts.
So you just need to appreciate the things you have by your posts I'd say one thing is your MOM (the girl) doesn't hurt either besides you finally got the D60.
Dont worry about what people gives you just live your life in a way you can hold your head up anywhere and anytime there is rewards in life many never see.
i charged my cus 1400 bucks to fix i drive shaft he was shocked when the dealer ship plug it in to a compter and they found out what he wqs doing so they voided his warrteny lol karma a bitch
here is how i look at it. u have something to feel proud of, u worked for ur truck, u work for parts and u work to keep it running. that shows 100x more respect than someone getting a truck handed to them. same deal in high school, kids had new cars and i had my 93. big deal, i didnt care because i knew it took my hard work, blood, sweat and tears to get it and i took care of it...busted my hump to keep it looking good and everyone who counted (peers, friends, family) respected me for it. OTOH, having something given to u shows nothing in my book. my cousin had everyhting right outta high school...new(er) car, new ATV, a house, etc...but he had almsot everything given to him. i didnt have diddly but my truck and pride that i earned it. where is my cousin now? moochin off his g/f because he lost everything! HA, thats what i call karma.
i give u props for working and knowing the value of doing what it takes.
