I have a 2004 F250 6.0 that only has 60,000 miles on it. I left texas last friday to come to illinois. I got to missouri and the truck seemed to lose all its power and would hardly make it up hills. Took it into the dealer and they put a new air filter and fuel filters in it. Diesel mechanic was not in that day. Left the dealer and went to fill it up and added some fuel treatment to it. Made it to illinois no problem. Drove it the next day and this is what it is doing now. It idles fine, starts fine, and drives fine at low speeds. When it gets ready to shift into overdrive (around 50-55 mph) it starts to vibrate and cut out if u just barely are giving it throtle. But if u give it a lot of gas it wont do it. Could this be the fuel filters are clogged again? Could I have got some bad fuel or what. Please help me I got to make it back to texas in a couple days.
If new fuel filters solved the problem for a little while, then it sure seems like the fuel in the tank is bad. If your fuel gels up, additives will not effectively remove the gel. They are more effective at preventing it, not reversing it. Again, as KRDiesel says - sounds like you do indeed have a bad tank of fuel. It just took awhile to clog the new filters. Just an FYI - low fuel pressure (which can result from clogged filters) can ruin injectors. Sounds like time to change the filters again (as much as I am sure you don't want to).
