Does anyone know if the bolt connecting the I-Beam to the Radius arm threaded through the I-beam or just not? I've removed the spring retauning nut and the lower lock nut, but still can't get the bolt out.
According to the Ford shop manual for my 96, it's not threaded into the beam. There's a nut above the spring retainer and one below the spring perch, but the bolt itself should just fall (or drive if it's rusted) straight out once both nuts are removed. BTW torque spec for the bolt is 250-339 ft-lbs and for the upper nut it's 83-112 ft-lbs.
Thanks SR. Ended up taking a 1" impact and a sedaline torch to free them up, but they finally came out. Now I just have to get ahold of ProComp and seeI can't speak civillyis up with this 1/2" "gap" in the new radius arms. I think the problem arises from the fact that they use the same radius arms for both 2 and 4wd beams, as I'm assuming the 4wd beams would be thicker (taller) due to the axle shaft.
I tell ya, this isn't going nearly as planned. LOL
