check your weight! i work for a rv dealer and depending on how many slides or type of construction(fiber glass sibe wall, sheet metal, alum frame or wood)will change weights alot. also many dealer will tell you the dry weight and tell you your truck can tow it but thats empty no lp no water no clothes no food. so if its empty what good is it? length is not an issue its the weight! cant beleive no one said this before. o well thats my 2 cents. o yea 5th wheels tow much better in my opinon. and get a good break control
ford5o is right....Every summer I see people towing trailers with not enough truck to do the job. When I bought my TT 3 years ago, the dealer tried to sell me an under rated ball for that unit. The receiver was hollow and not rated for at least 10000 lbs. Incorrect amount of drop and it was up to me to know better. Lucky for me I've been towing for the last 20 years and know what I'm doing. I don't think the salesman tried to pull something over on me, I don't think he knew any better. I also think there's more profit on a bigger unit so they might try to steer a customer that way.
Com'on guys, he's got a F350 Dully - I seriously doubt weight will be a concern. The minimum towing capacity for his truck (not knowing the gears) is 12,300#.
like i said in my previous post(#10) i'm doing what the op is thinking about doing...and i have no problem.if your not sure of your abilities of backing up, then i would take your truck and trailer (if you buy it) and go to a big parking lot and set up some cones and practice. i also understand that rearview camaras mounted on the rear of trailers are becoming more popular.good luck with your purchase.
WOW thanks for ALL the input. What a great and diversified group of people we have here.
No weight is not an issue as I have a F350 diesel with 370 gears, and the TT I am looking at is a North Trail 32bhds. I believe the GVWR is 9000 lbs and the unloaded weight is 6995.
Backing up shouldn;t be much of a problem as I am used to towing my 18' race car trailer and no problem, especially if a longer one backs up easier.
My biggest concern was manueverability in some of the tighter spaces.
Thanks again for all the input.
