Well, we now have over 40" of snow so far. My Ex came with new 285x75r Goodrich long trail radials. i'm not very impressed with them as far as deep snow or cornering with them. wondering what anyone recommends or likes in a decent tire for snow 285 or similar size, nothing smaller. also does anyone run Pro comp allterrain tires on this site?
I live in Minnesota, so we have a lot of snow also, I have had excellent results with my Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armours. They go through snow great and have had them on a plow truck and they worked better for plowing than ant tire Ive had. They also wear like iron, I had 55,000 miles on my first set on my Expedition, and am hoping to get that on my new ones on my X. Hope this helps.
I love my silent armours as well, they have begun to slip a little more as they have worn in more though. Still do great, just noticably slipping more then they used to. Its posisble I just know the truck more now though and push it harder, I'd love to hear form otehrs that have had the silent armours for a while.
Personally I have been impressed with the Dueller Revos that we run on my wifes EX. I run 315 BFG KO's on my f250 and they perform well. I would have gone with the Revos on my truck but they don't make them that size. I'm fairly new to driving in the snow but am learning quickly as my drive to work is a hundred mile round trip since we moved to Oregon from Texas.
A buddy of mine put bfg mud terrains on his f250 in the skinniest size that would fit his rims (I believe 235?). Yes, they look goofy, but they work AWESOME in the snow and mud.

I had them on my old f150 and I agree they were the best tire Ive used in the snow.
I have the Silent Armours in the 285 size in load range E. I live right on Lake Ontario on the Southeast curve of the lake. We get incredible amounts of snow, a lot of it Lake Effect Snow. These tires are great. I rarely even have to put my X into 4WD.
Snurtle112, I'm pretty knew to the whole bulletin board scene, so I am not sure how to enable or do a PM. We moved from San Antonio to Ontario about two years ago for my new job. If you can educate me on this PM thing I'll see if I can get it working.

I didn't really care for them either. They wore out easy, couldn't balance properly, and didn't hang onto the road too well. They were quickly replaced with Michelin LTX M/S tires.
With the snow, I'd definately recommend some BFG All Terrains, Goodyear Silent Armors, Bridgestone Revos, or Toyo Open Country A/Ts. As I said in a previous thread, these are the most popular tires for our trucks and work the best with the demand we put on our trucks.
Thanks Toreador, i agree they dont balance that great and are prone to vibration, not all that great even in a couple of inches of snow. i'm checking into the Silent armors and Toyo's commercial M-55 tires, possibly Hankooks or even the T/A KOs. thanks for the input.
Guinness book of world records most snow in a year (110ft) is 35 km from the house in Stewart BC.All the RCMP and EMS vehicles and half the pickups in town, are on BFG commercial traction TA.
