best pulling story....
i have had 2 in the past week both where chevys
witch made it even better !!!!!
so i was up an brian head ski resort and i was crusin around in some back country when i turned this corner and low and behold a duramax is butt first in a snow bank so being the nice guy i am i pulled up next to him and offered my assistance. i hooked up to him with my 30,000 lb tow strap and 2 3/4 inch shackles and just slowly pulled him out it was a glorious day.
then the other one i was outside of las vegas hittin some trails in the snow when i came across this chevy avalanche that was dug through the snow into the mud and it was STUUUUCK! so i got out and went up to the window to see if anybody was inside nobody answered the knock so i opened the door to make sure there wasnt a frozen body in the back, when i looked in the back seat i kinda was in shock two carseats a diperbag and baby toys all over the place..... ya i said the same thing Oh MY!!!!!!!!!!!!
so i started looking around and there where a set of foot prints leading away from the truck and looked to be about a day and a half old so i hooked up to the truck and pulled the truck out so it wasnt stuck any more. i grabbed a business card out of his truck and went on my way following the tracks in the snow hoping this guy was alright... then about 2 miles down the trail the tracks just disappered ??????
so i got back down into town and gave the guy a call and left him a message he still hasnt returned my call sooooo
i havent heard anything on the news so i dont know what to do next
the truck is gone now and i dont know what happened to it
so moral of this story is go prepared !!!!!!!!!!!!! so you can get unstuck
let someone know where you are
and if you do get stuck and you are in the middle of nowhere
STAY PUT!!!!!!
some one will find you and you have a better chance of surviving if you are with your vehicle... just be smart people

My friend called me up one night and asked me to come get him. He had a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 lifted 7" on 35" BFG mud-terrains. So i got my truck and head down the trail, back up to him, hook the strap up and give him a tug. I hear a smack, thats right, i ripped off a front tow hook of his with a strap! So i back up again, and you guessed it, there went the other front tow hook. So we fenagled the strap around the frame, finally yanked him free. About 45 min later we were leaving the trail, he was following me and next thing i know i see his headlights like he was going in reverse. Turns out he busted a left front axle u-joint AND a driveshaft u-joint(talk about bad luck.) So all in all a 15 min extraction took all night and and a tow home.
And my friends wonder why i love my stock height F-150 with 33" Goodyear MT/R's!
I work for a transit authority in Pennsylvania.
We don't get the snow that some areas of the state get, but usually when it snows around here everyone just loses their minds on the roads.
The tires we tend to put on the busses are well....not great.
The only thing they have going for them is that they usually are round.
The rears are always recaps and the tread is no good for snow IHMO.
I have lost track of how many 40 foot transit busses I have pushed on snowcovered hills with my company vehicle, which is a 2000 Explorer with 4.0 V6! No push bumper either!
I just put it in 4LO and shove away!
We are getting 08 and 09 Escapes to replace the Explorers and Chevy Blazers. Everyone I know keeps asking my why a TM with senority like I have is still driving an "old" T-car..... Sure the power windows and Sat radio (on the 09's) are nice, but I can't see pushing anything with the plastic front end of an Escape.
A couple of weeks ago, a bus wouldn't start in the terminal at rush hour. Since the terminal where this happened is a loop layout with nose to tail loading, the dead bus had everything backed up. I just got in behind it and pushed it out, over the hill to the garage and left it....about 1/4 mile over a hill!
When I got back, my boss says to me, "now I know why you don't want a new car".
That and I have essentially my own car now since nobody wants to drive the "old" one....
Just another picture for you.
Yesterday for Christmas, my driveway looked like a Ford commercial.
The family was over for Christmas dinner and the driveway contained the following,
2004 F-150 Scab 4x4 (nephew) 2004 F-150 Lariat Scab 4X4 (brother in law) 1997 F-150 XLT Scab 4X4 (mine) 2001 Windstar (wifey) 1990 Thunderbird (mine) 1985 Ranger (mine looking for a home) 1991 F-250 XLT Lariat Scab 4X4 7.5L (my old DD looking for a home).... and a 1999 Honda Prelude (daughter's...you know...kids.....no taste)
And in the driveway next door.....the Father-in-law's 1994 Ranger Scab 4X4....
At least I'm helping to keep Ford from going bankrupt!
Happy Holidays!
