well this problem has been around for a while but is now getting really bad, durnig normal driving it is fine but as soon as my front passenger tire hist bumps in the road my front end goes crazy shaking the steering wheel back and forth hard and takes about 5 seconds to stop. what is the problem.
If you lift the front of the truck with a jack can you move the wheels at all? as in wheel bearings maybe? Grab the tire at the top and bottom and see of you can rock it at all. How about tires, they in good shape? wheels balanced? all that good stuff?
sounds like death wobble check out the front end, track bar, ball joints tie rods, wheel bearings. i had the same issue with my 78 bronco ended up being track bar bushings.
Im having this same thing. Try Pullin hub lock off of wheel and see if the splined axle is wobble. Might be inner berings that keep axle shaft centered. I'm now trying to see if I can pull bjoints out to get to the back seal or not. The noise I hear is the axle grinding on the back of the bearing hub assymbly. Good luck
an idea to check the track bar bushings, with the truck sitting on the ground with the wheels straight and engine off have a helper turn the steering wheel back and forth while looking at the track bar to see if the bushings are shot. the truck will move side to side but the tires wont.
if everything on the suspension checks out ok...i would try and rotate the the tires and see if that makes a difference and if you still have the problem it might be the stablizer shock....
