My son has a 74 f100 with a 360 in it. I have put on flowtech long tube headers and 2 1/2 inch dual exhaust with baffled bottle mufflers on it. We have the timing gears with the pollution advance out of them to go in right away. It presently has heads with the D2TEAA stamped on them. It also has the Pretonics (spelling?) electronic points in it. I have an Edelbrock performer intake and a 625 Holley Street Avenger carb also to go on it. Does this sound like a reasonable combination for street driving and a little performance when he wants it? Should I maybe cam it as well? If anyone has any ideas about it I would love to hear. I also need to know the torque specs for the intake bolts and tightening sequence if anyone has that info handy. Thanks, Doug
Thanks for the reply Masterbeavis. I have a Haynes repair manual around here somewhere but have been unable to find it. I know as soon as I purchase a new one I will find my copy. I did find the torque specs on here, another thread I was reading had a link to it. When I searched the FTE site I must have used the wrong wording as I kept getting results about improving engine torque. I hope I dont have to rebuild this motor anytime soon as it has only 34,000 original miles on the truck. My uncle who is a 70 yr old lawyer has had it from new and he gave it to my son. It is one of those bright Orange colored trucks from 74.
5) Install the intake manifold and hold-down bolts. Torque all of the manifold bolts in two steps by the sequence shown in Figure 1 to 25 ft/lbs. While tightening the intake manifold bolts, the distributor should be installed in its proper position. Care should be taken to make sure that the distributor is centered in the hole in the intake manifold and that it can be freely removed and reinstalled after the intake manifold bolts are tightened.
Thanks Hypoid. I had the torque and pattern already but the part about the distributor is great to know. Thanks also for the link. I will get a couple pics of my 79 and my sons 74 on here. Just not sure which part of the site is best to post em in as I am pretty much a newbie.
