ive got a 93 f-150 4x4 supercab with the 351w i want to put an all new exhaust on it from the heads back. i was thinkin about hedman elite shortie headers, a bassani y pipe with cat, a flowmaster 44, and some 3.5 slash tips commin out at an angle after the rear tires. i know that it would be 3"SI then 2.5"D/O. if anybody knows of some better brands or prose and cones on this setup please let me know.
how hard would it be to make a 3" y pipe for long tubes? do you know anybody with some pics so i can get an idea? thats the only reason why i was lookin at shorties. that way i could just bolt up the bassani y pipe and my exhaust shop back home has a hard time benddin 3".
Not hard to make, I usually just buy a mandrel U and cut it so I can weld it together in a Y. Or just find a better exhaust shop.
When I build performance exhaust I use mandrel "U"s for the hole thing. The best setup is an equal length Y of 2.5" pipe to a Y joint with the two 2.5" pipes flowing together smoothly and coming out of the Y as a 3" then some 3" pipe to let the flow work before going into the muffler. (I love the sound of a BIG single exhaust) I sounds like your getting a 3" single in muffler with two 2.5" outs. The size of the pipes after the muffler doesn't matter except that bigger is better, so if it is practical for you consider dual 3" tailpipes.
