I have been looking and there are headers for the 5.4 from $200-almost a grand. So I suppose my question would be dose anyone here have any headers, how good are they, and did they yeild much proformance. If you dont have any or have some but want/need better ones what is the best set of headers anyone knows of for the 5.4? Thanks
Sanderson headers from california makes a decent header for the 4.6, I cant imagine them not having one for the 5.4.
MSRP is around 280.00? If you have a repair shop they offer dealer pricing.
I do have to add that the Sanderson headers have had a better fit than other headers I have worked with in the past. I did however have to fabricate 1 bolt on the drivers side and I peened a small flat spot on the bottom side of one of the tubes to allow for the fabricated bolt to extend beyond the side of the header for easy removal and installation.
I agree.16 ga tubing, and 1-5/8" tube size make those one of the best I've seen so far. Alot of the headers are 1-1/2" tubing, and are made of lighter-wall 18 ga metal. That's restrictive and prone to burnout and overheating which cracks the tubing.

Yup....and I find the shorties are more prone to it with more bends and welds compared to long tubes. To be honest the shorties did very little in the performance catagory.......nice sound, but not worth it.
I got mine through Jet-Hot coatings. Pretty much the first of the production.
1-5/8" primary 16 ga. mild steel, Jet-Hot Sterling coating. Got these with non-catalytic mid-pipes for a little under $700 shipped. Even got an extra O2 bung welded on to my specs for no additional charge. Dynatechs are nice but for the money I think you can do better. You are paying a lot extra for stainless steel (T-304...cheapest you can get and still be able to call it "stainless") and if you are going to coat it anyway then there is no point in anything but mild steel.
Just make sure they are the full length headers. Have a good coating on them to keep the rust off and wrap them with header tape to keep the heat in them for a little more power. The tests used Hookers for the best gain of 38 hp @ 5000 and just about as much torque. Shorties made a few horses and made some one some money.
