Hey im new to this whole forum thing but i figured this would be the cheapest way to figure what is wrong with my Bronco. I just bout it for $1000 about a month ago and had to put a new rear end in it. But that isnt the problem. When i accelerate i hear this clanking noise that increases the faster i go then stops when i quit accelerating. It sounds like it coming from the driverside middle area. I can also sorta feel it clanking from right under my foot when its on the gas pedal. I knew the bronco needed some work when i got it, but i just cant figure out what this noise is. Any ideas of what it could be would be a great help, im not the best mechanic, but i can do anything when it comes to a truck as long as i have the right tools and the right instructions.
Im also having problem with the oil pressure guage, ive read alot that these guages arnt really accurate but sometimes it reads normal, and other times its reading almost to low where it sometimes trigures the engine light to come on.
Well lookiing forward to see what i hear from yall guys....Thank you.
Check the U-joints from the transfer case back to the rear axle. Usually clanking in the drive train while under acceleration is a good indication of ujoints going or are bad.
Sounds like the double-cardon u-joint at the front of the rear driveshaft.
As to the oil pressure gauge, do yourself a favor and get a mechanical oil pressure gauge and hook it up in place of the OEM unit. This way you can see if the fluctuation you are getting with the factory unit is truly an oil pressure issue or just a problem with the guage or sending unit.
