absolutely not!!! as a sound engineer I can tell you that yes, the quality of your speakers will make good or bad difference in the sound of your vehicle, but a good deck can make even cheap speakers sound great! for instance, in my 01 GMC Sonoma, with the stock deck I had absolutely no bass response. then I replaced it with a new alpine deck, I don't even need subs! then replaced with pioneer speakers and even more upgrade in how loud they can go while retaining sound accuracy.

But there's a guy who rebuilds all kinds of Ford radios on ebay. He currently has a 78/79 Ford digital AM/Clock radio on auction.
