You can see the pin that the paper clip pushes in in the lock cylinder. Line it up with the hole and push it in and turn to the left to put the cyl in the proper position. Then make sure the slot down in the switch is turned to the same angle as the tab on the end of the cyl (you can turn it with a screwdriver if necessary) then put the cyl in and turn it to the right one click.
Hope this helps. Easy to do. Hard to explain at the keyboard.
There is a slot inside the ign. switch and the lock has a corresponding pin that fit into said slot. The lock needs to be 'preloaded' by inserting the key and using the clip, urn the lock to the 'access' position, or all the way to the left, same position as when it was removed. Once the lock is inserted into the switch assembly and preloaded then turn the key to the 'on' position thus securing the lock into the switch assembly. If the lock is inserted incorrectly, that's to say, if you turn the key and the lock and switch rotate then remove and retry. Learned from experence, for the longest time I could remove the key with the truck running, took assembly apart and the light bulb came on when I figured it out. Hope it help, I read the instructions and does not make any sense to me. Again, think taking few minutes and look both components separately it may make more sense.
OK>... i got it back in..... i don't understand it but I got it..... I may have to do it again as I need to install or find a wire to run the ignition.... does anyone know what color the wire that runs the ignition is supposed to be....? thanx for all the fast responses!!!!!!!
A belated welcome to the family of Ford Truck Enthusiast, welcome to FTE!! According to the wire diag. it's a 'yellow' wire. If intend working on the elect. circuits in the future suggest purchase the wiring diag. manual, I found it extremely helpful tracing any electrical gremlins that should develope. Majority of the Ford part suppliers carry them, or purchase from the supplier Jim Osborn Reproduction, posting a link to web site, manual cost $7 plus shipping.
update: I found the pink ballast wire..... i didn't check the resistance but It does have juice going through it so I think I am good..... thank a lot for the help
