If you don't have the bypass and the cooler plugs you don't get any flow to rear lube, and the rear half of the trans will self destruct. So, has it been down around zero degrees?

And,

For all those professional trans guys who haven't been able to find this part, look here:

Well im 99% sure that they never replaced the cooler. I guess maybe it would be a smart thing to replace then?

How much and what kind of trans fluid do i need to refill?

And like Dan said, its been below zero for a little over a day now and I never had a problem before this cold snap.

You don't have a in-line filter by chance do you?

You can always check flow by removing the cooler line going back to the trany from the cooler. If it will fill a pint glass jar then your system is working correct?

Exclamation

I just replaced the cooler with a stock one and added an aux trans cooler. the temp still rose to 220 after about 40 mins of driving. I touched the aux cooler and the lines are ice cold so obviously fluid isnt going through it.

It looks like its that bypass tube, there is a dealer about 40 miles away from me that has 2 in stock thankfully. Im going to replace that first thing in the AM

My question is, Is there a way I can temporaily remove that tube and put a bolt in the 2 holes for a few days??? I HAVE to get this working by about 2pm tomorrow.

I really do appreciate all you help but my main question is how feasable it is to bypass/plug the bypass tube.

I need help ASAP, Thanks guys

NICE!!! Thank you!!

My only question, this may be dumb or obvious, but what end of the tube is that? The end closest to the front of the truck or the end to the rear?

Im assuming by that photo, I can put a small tack weld on the 4 holes then grind them down so the bolt will still fit? I know I need to make sure the center stays open. He says braze it but i dont even know what that is, arc welding right? I dunno, LOL

Since the entire assembly is being replaced when you buy a new one, why not just crush the tubing closed to force the fluid to the coolers?

This is welded with oxygen and acetylene torch with brass rod.If you dont know what this is dont do it.If you read the link it shows the bypass tube on the floor. It also shows some bushings for those who dont want to weld. This sudden increase in temp happen to me i tapped the end with a small rubber hammer went on my way.

Im 100% confident in welding but im no pro either. I have welded many many things, just not with oxy/acet.

What are you meaning about tapping something with a rubber hammer?

Also, id get the bushings but the stores are all closed now, its 9pm here.
