I am going to replace my window regulator on my pass side to fix the problem I have been having. There is a seller on ebay that has them with motors complete and shipped for $60. I can get the regulator only through ford for 45. Which would you do?
Sounds like a no-brainer, you need to get the whole motor/regulator assembly or else buy from Ford. Make sure you support the window glass before you remove the assembly. You're gonna need to drill some rivets out; use some appropriate nuts and bolts (preferably with a dab of loctite) in their place.
My understanding is that the complete assembly will have the motor already installed....so I wont have to do any riveting of the motor to the regulator.
dont know about the newer trucks, but the ones I got out of a 97 fgor my 94 were not riveted to anything. pretty much the motor bolted to a bracket on the bottom and the motor lined up with the regulator. No plastic gears so they may have changed.
