I know opinions are like rear ends, everyone has one, but there has to be a programmer that is best suited for our trucks. Specifically, im looking for the one that works best for 87 octane gas that to change the tire size so my truck does not bog down on highway slopes.
Well there is very little that can be done, tuning wise, for 87 fuel. There is only so much energy that can be extracted. That is why you will most noteably see performance figures rated with 91+ octane. There is simply more energy available. What are you looking for in a tuner? Do you want a heads up display, or do you want to tune, then never see it again till you want to change a parameter? Do you have a budget in mind?

I need to change the tire size and shift points. Im not looking for engine power improvements, per se, just something to cover the new 305's that i plan in installing.
Leaving it In Stock mode will still change sift poo tsbfor the new tires as long as I change he tire size right? Or does changi g the tire size only fix the speedometer
Changing tire size only fixes the speedometer. But the shifts can be firmed up a bit. Without running 91+ octane you won't see much extra power.
The only thing that's really going to help make up for the tire size is re-gearing.
my dealer said they have a mechanic thjat for $250 off hours will set a custom program for me, but im wondering if this is a one time thing that i can't change. Doesn't seem like a cost effective solution if i ever want to change anything. Then what happens if i need my PCM flashed?
i have the BFG 305/65 18's on my truck and the speedo is only off about 1.5mph at 50 when checking to my hand held GPS. not really worth worrying about to me. it had the 275's on it stock.
Here is what we can do with 87 Octane .... very good improvements over stock and power where you need it...
