I have a 95 f-150 with a 302. The check engine light has been on for a few years now and I am in the process of selling it! The buyer wants the light out and I had it at autozone years ago and it was throwing a egr code. Autozone said it could be one of three posibilities. I took a guess and installed a positon sensor. That never fixed it and I took it to the Ford place yesterday and they said they could not hook to the computer because of the age (too old). i GUESS MY BEST OPTION IS AUTOZONE???
Will it through diffrent codes?
I need it fixed quick.
Any ideas?????
In '95 it's an OBD-I system, that why the ford dealer can't hook their scanner to it. The SHOULD have a breakout box they can install between the engine harness and the computer that will give them the same info.
You can pull the codes yourself with nothing more than a paperclip. Follow the instructions here: EEC IV Self Test hookup , leave out the test light/voltmeter and watch the check engine light blink.
It's Free!!
It's only takes minutes instead of hours in a waiting room.
If you post them here you'll get the right answers and help with your problem.
If you go to the Twilight Zone you'll have to deal with idiots that don't know what they're talking about and waste your time with BS answers when they discover it's not an OBD-2 vehicle.
