ok im lowering the truck by removing leaves front and rear , and was told i need alignment shims for the front axle , go in between the axle and springs or perches . i for the life of me have been mulling over it trying to figure what i'd be changing so drastically , so does anyone have an answer ?? also i was kinda looking around for a shorter pitman arm , new or off something else to help with the bump steer . i was told by one of our advertisers tech people that a front sway bar would really help with this by controlling the side to side movement , instead of hunting for the goose that lays golden eggs . so what do ye say ? last, anyone ever seen or have a slip yoke for the t-89 heavy four i got in my beast ?? i never have been a fan of two peice driveshafts , and if there is such an animal i'd like to lay hands on one to go back to my oe driveshaft . no problems with anything on the two peice , just my preference .
No help on the front end but I think you have to have a different tail shaft in the trans to use a slip joint at the trans. The one with the fixed yoke is too short to use a slip joint.-
The alignment shims (wedges) help with tracking-- ( at speed, bump steering wheel to the right or left and truck should come back to straight ahead immeditally) If your truck
reacts as above you do not need wedges. Cannot help you with other problems. Bump steer is a matter of geometry as has been explained many times in this forum, so I`d say there is no magic wand to fix other than getting geometry correct.
By the way, I want to thank you one more time for the `56 dash panel you sold me about a year ago. there are some pics in my gallery, showing what I did with it, so thanks again and Merry Christmas to you and your Family.
