Driveshaft fitment question

I finally figured out that I'll be better off just getting a new rear rear driveshaft for my truck. This one is dinged (pretty good), has been beat on apparently, and the slip yoke is pretty worn out. Both u-joints were worn out so I changed them Monday afternoon and the caps in the slip yoke had to be beat out but the new ones pushed in with just finger pressure. Can ya'll tell me which trucks and vans have the same shaft as mine? I have an 03 with a two peice rear shaft and both u-joints are the same size. There's a junk yard an hour away that has a few Superduty's, one is a four door long bed that was burnt in the front and there's an ex. cab longbed like mine but it's a newer year. Do the newer trucks have the same driveshafts? It's an 04+ according to the intact badges on the front fenders. Would it be better to get a machine shop to make me a new one? Thanks as usual for the help and advice (ya'll save me SO much money!).

If you have one made you will have a new shaft. If you buy one from a bone yard you won't be sure what you have

I tried to go that route at first but I think $425 for a three and half foot drive shaft is a little steep. I was thinking between $100 and $200 but not $400+.

You can have your drive shaft retubed for less. they use the old ends and just replace the tube. Or you may be able to just have yours rebalanced.

You have enough sense to be able to look at the used shafts and tell if they will be o.k. in your truck. You might want to put the new joints in them.Just not sure of the balancing issues.I know when we remove the shafts that we mark them so we get them in the same spot as they came out.
Remember to chock the wheels when removing the shaft.

Yeah once I get it in my hands I can tell if it'll fit and if it's a good piece or not the problem is that we don't have many decent junk yards around here and I could spend two or three weekends looking for the right donor trucks. I just wanted ya'll to narrow my search down but I think I'll check with another machine shop first. I'd rather have a new one but it ain't worth $400! Thanks for the replies guys.
