help me please ive got a 95 it runs good then all of a sudden dies i have a superchips that i use for scanning i plug it in when this happens and nothing the code reader does not get a signal from the computer i shut the truck down for a bit wiggle some wires under the hood and she starts again and goes for however long she wants to what could this be? i still have tach when i turn the key on i get the cel and no wait to start light. i think thats all i got goin right now so what could this gremlin be? cps? uvc harness? idm? thanks everyone
If the fuel heater shorted it would blow the fuse as well so just unplugging it wouldn't help unless you change the fuse as well. You need to check fuses as there is one that powers the cigar lighter and the diagnostic plug.
i checked all the fuses they are good. at first i wiggled everything then the uvc it started quicker when i just messed with the uvc. the thing thats throwing me off is the inabillity of the scanner to read the comp when this happens
i know when i tried to put my chip in my truck i didnt tighten the bolt all the way that plugs into the computer and it caused my wait to start light not to come on
check the main wire harness that runs across the left valve cover under the air intake tube near the front of the engine. it rubs through on the valve cover and bracket sometimes. if thats good then check the ipr harness in the valley of the motor, they will melt after years of use and oil being dripped on them
Coonhunterjoe is right on that one ! I've had that happen on one of our trucks... bracket that holds the intake pipe rubbed into the main harness..killed idm voltage to several cylinders making for a nasty miss. Actually, anywhere there is a bend in a harness is a potential place for wires to get the insulation rubbed off em and short em out. On the later model trucks with intercooler... the plastic wire looming that "protects" wiring, is notorious for rubbing holes in the aluminum cooler tubes where they touch... imagine what it can do for little wires inside with much vibration...
you have a downloadable tuner correct? that wouldnt affect the bolt on the pcm.
no i use the superchips just for diagnostic ive also got a 125hp chip pluged into the idm i will check that harness when i can feel my fingers (13 degrees today) thank you all for your help ill get on this when its a little warmer and let you all know reps sent to all
