It will be a couple of months until my truck comes in but I'm already thinking about accessories. #1- Spray in liner probably with Line X. #2- Hard tonneau cover but not sure of what one. Any recommendations as to what type, folding, hinged, or retractable? Specific manufacturers? And if I go with a colored match hinged type is the color really OEM quality? Thanks all and enjoy the snow storm that just hit the northeast. I'm buried with about 10" here in central NY.

Did you consider a soft cover?
Check out Access Covers.
Store it or roll it out. ANY kind of weather.
Love mine.

I hate my truxedo low pro qt.....in winter it freezes...the velcro becomes a solid block of ice.....I've seen some very nice are tops that are truly color matched....even in the tri coat white sand color...

The Truxedo Deuce That was on my 01 never froze and the TruXport on my current truck has had no winter issues. I prefer the lower profile like yours and the Deuce, but all I could afford this round was the TruXport. For $199 shipped to my door, I couldn't pass it up.

And for the record, no gain in highway mileage with a cover. Tested myself on my 80 mile daily round trip to work. Same with or without.

My aunt has the undercover hard tonneau, and it is a dark grey/black color. But it is really light and easliy removable.

depending on your climate and how much you access your bed there are lots of options. a soft cover won't help with MPG, actually will make you lose a point because of the flapping. i've had a truxedo truxsport and a truxedo lowproQT and i hate them in the winter time. they seem to be quite tight from the factory and never loosened up for me in the summer, now they wouldn't close because of shrinkage from the cold. i've seen this with covers on other trucks from other soft cover manufacturers. i've recently bought an ArmourLid hard shell, cost a lot more than the soft covers, but its tough, won't shrink or flap and you can lock it and have more peace of mind that your valuables are that much safer. Soft covers are easily cut and your bed contents stolen...

just my 0.05...(CAD )

i currently have a A.R.E brand fiberglass lsx cover on the bed of my 08 f150. its a hinged cover.only complaint i have its kinda pricey paid $1300 for it.

the paint is a perfect match and of good quality and i really like the built in light and the powered lock.its wired so when you press the button on the emitter to lock/unlock the doors it also locks or unlocks the cover.will never have to worry if the cover is locked.

by the way the bed is sprayed with line-x,its a good bed liner, cant go wrong with line-x

My mileage stayed about the same on my truck with the TruXport, but it was put on about the time it got cold and winter fuel was in use so I can't say until this summer.
It does keep my cargo nice and dry though So for $200 shipped to the door, I can't complain!!

I have had 3 different Extang soft tonneaus and loved every one. I have tried other soft tonneaus and always went back to Extang. Just my preference though. My latest one is an Extang RT and hands down is the best by far.

I've considered flat covers from all vintages in the past and have friends that have them. They have so many issues when it comes time to actually haul something. They very often call me as my bed is open.

I've had fiberglass caps (shells) in the past as well and still like the open bed. I have a large deep diamond plate cross bed tool box and I love that thing more than any in bed storage item that I've ever had.

Tonneaus are asthetically pleasing and caps are quite functional, I personally have no use for either. I drive the truck for the purpose of having a truck and my wife drives the Expy, I have the best of both. Just my $.10 worth.

+1 on the Retrax. It has survived boy my boys taking 'unauthorized' exits out the sliding rear window and still looks new. It is going on 6 years now and couldn't imagine having a truck without one.

Access covers are best in the business! Made in ND to withstand extreme temps and I have owned at least 4 on all different trucks and never had one rip or tear. Super Product!

I have the Undercover and think it's great for my needs. Would definitely buy another one.
