I have a 2002 F-250 7.3L super duty. is there anything wrong with leaving the hubs locked in and switching in and out of 4wd during the snowy winter months?
Nothing wrong, except it will hurt your fuel mileage. I will leave them unlocked unless I suspect I will need it when I leave the house, then I'll lock them in. In the summer, I'll lock them in for a trip every now and then, just to keep the grease moving around.
Several folks have mentioned they do so, with no ill affects reported so far.
Theoretically, it should hurt your fuel economy a bit as you now are accelerating and stopping the axles, joints, and front diff - which takes a little energy. And turning those means they are wearing them more than if they were stationary. Again, not much.
