Signs of an oil leak if you unplug the wires. Rough running at idle, problems starting, truck not accelerating quite right when you get on it, check engine light or codes stored in the computer.
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you with all the busy holiday & travel. Thanks for replying F350-6. Here is what my truck is doing:When you take off at a stop light, it will surge like you are tapping the throttle. Sometimes, it will sound as if only a few of the cylinders are firing. Also, when you take off and move up in traffic then let off quick it will die. Check engine light does not come on at any time. Thought maybe it could be the CPS but replaced it recently and doesn't seem to be the same symptoms. Any ideas?????
First, I'd make sure your engine oil is full and not past it's change date. That goes for the air and fuel filter too.
I'm having trouble thinking of problems that would match your symptoms. You didn't use a CPS from the auto parts store did you? Those have been known to cause problems right out of the box.
If no one else can come up with any better ideas, I'd say it's time to find someone with a good scanner and check for any soft codes (preferably just after the truck has been acting up). Then run some tests, or monitor live data to see if you can find a problem. The things I can think of to check might be TPS (throttle postion sensor) IVS (Idle validation sensor), EBPV (exhaust back pressure valve) or the wastegate. Hopefully others will have more suggestions.
Yea, I was gonna throw in whichever switch/sensor is on the back of the pedal (at least in my 2000). Its like a little metal contact and its very thin and it bent and it would cause weird habits like you were describing. Not sure if it was the TPS or the IVS...but I bent it back and it works!
