Headlight replacement

Has anyone replaced their entire headlight? My headlight was hit by a big truck and smashed it in. I see two small bolts on the top and two small bolts on the bottom. I just want to make sure that these are the mounting bolts and not the adjusters. I tried the online manual link from the 6.0 tech folder but it won't allow me in. I ordered Anzo headlights that will be coming in tomorrow. Seems something always happens before I take a big trip. Going to Southern Cal (in laws) for the holidays.

Just three bolts IIRC... two on the bottom and one on top. Could be 4 though, its been awhile since I took them out.

There's just one adjuster on the top for vertical... horizontal is fixed.

akford351--Thanks for the quick reply. One of these days I am going to get the helms manual for this truck so I don't have to guess whats what when working on the truck.

The two at the top have a "clip" that secure it to the truck. the little clips are metal and seem to go around the plastic "nut". Pop them off and the top should just pull straight out. If I remember right, the bottom is an actual screw. I can take a look at mine and see if I can post a couple of pics.

On the '99 (just did mine last week):
There are two L shaped silver metal PITA clips on the top, and a black plastic bushing with molded wings on the outside bottom.
No screws anywhere. Pull the two clips on the top (using tiny probe to release locking tabs). Three hands helps.
On the bottom, a very long pair of needle nose to squeeze in the tabs is helpful.

Incredibly simple and fast to install. But removal? A serious WTFWTT moment. The first one took me an hour to get out as I was being ultra careful as it was a very cold night, making the 10 year old plastic even more brittle! The second one was 10 minutes.

Of course, the '99 are different headlights so I have no idea if the mounting is the same. I certainly hope they made them easier to remove....

Thanks guys! It's the simple things that always seem so hard. Headlight replacement should be a no brain-er. As it turns out my brother who borrowed my truck parked it on an incline without leaving it in gear and checking that the ebrake was fully engaged. Well guess what it wasn't and it rolled down into the truck. Thank God the truck was there or it would have been rolling down one of those steep San Francisco hills.

No clips on the '05+ lights... I know what you're talking about though and they are a PITA!

Your correct with the 2 bolts on the top and 2 bolts on the bottom for the 2005.

It does make it easier if you take out the 4 bolts for the top of the grill so you can pull it out a little to give you more room to remove the headlights.

When I did an 04 headlight upgrade on my 99 I think it was easier to take out the battery on the drivers side. It gives you a little more room to get yours hands in there to work. Good Luck.
