I'm probably going to replace my batteries today as the truck is having cranking issues. I what to put JD strong boxes in there but I'm in a pinch and don't have time modify the trays. What do you guys think about the Interstate Mega Trons Plus? They have 850 CCA.
Will 6.75 x 13 x 9.38 battery fit without much work? I.E. would I be able to run it for a couple of days then modify the trays?
PM tj...he has some bigger batts in his truck....I think group 31's
As for the batts I have never delt with those.I always used Optima but their quality has gone down along with the warranty.I am going with odessy when the truck is ready for batts.
The ones I have been eying from oddesy IIRC were 1150cca.It has been a while but that # is sticking in my head for some reason. And sorry no link with me.
Do they fit in the battery trays? I looked on their website. They have some pretty powerful bats. Problem is they are based in Cali and it would probaby take a week to get them.
That one I was looking was just a tad bigger than OEM.... So I think little to no mod it would work.Jegs sells Odyssey batts, they only have a couple listed in the catalog but may have more on the site. They have free 1-2 day delivery too.
Yeah, I think I'm gonna go with the Orielly's Extremem Climate. It may not be the best battery out there, but it has a 3 year warranty and they have them on stock.
I've been starting my truck with one battery this week and the highest temp has been 12 degrees. Ouch.
I just put in a pair of Die-Hards. They were on sale (about $89 each) at my Kmart and I was about due for a set, having had some slow start experiences in the past several weeks.
Dropped those boys in and it fires right up now.
I recently got a set from Costco for $75 each. I think they are 1000CCA, atleast 100CCA more than the Ford house batteries. Long warranty too. They started my rig easily this week at 10F and not plugged in. Local diesel guys around here seem to have good luck with them. So far I'm happy with them but have only had them since Sept.
i have 31's in my truck, i have them in with the posts to the rear and modified my cables to fit. my battery tray is unmodified still, i have yet to ge tthe time to fit them
i know it's not the best battery but i use the walmart ever start i think they are weaker than any other battery but have a really good warranty i know it's wrong but about every 2 years or so i completly screw them up on purpose and go get 2 brand new ones for free you just have to be a little bit smarter than the people who work at the walmart auto section which isn't to hard i have done everything from drain all the acid out and drain them down really bad they short them out works everytime and get new battiers for free but you have to make SURE you fill them back up with water
Well I went and got the Extreme Climate CCA 880 from Oriellys. I got our work discount so it made it a pretty good deal.
It turned over a hell of a lot faster after sitting for 7 hours this afternoon. We'll see in the morning what they well do. Hopefully she cranks right up. I'm getting tired of the batt charger riding shotgun.
