Man is the new Taurus a nice car. I used to have a 93 when I first started driving and I hated it, so I was reluctant at first but this thing is the shiznit. SEL with moon roof, leather, dual climate controls, 18" aluminum wheels. And it goes too, 263 hp four valve Volvo V-6. Only thing I don't like is the lack of leg room in the front, most car designers must not be 6'5" tall. The sales man was boasting about the leg room in the back seat and the space in the trunk being unough for 8 golf bags. I wasn't impressed, he couldn't tell me how many 120 qt coolers could fit back there instead. Oh well.
Just got the windows tinted today and boy is this thing looks sharp. I bought it used so it had a scratch on the trunk, that is getting painted tomorow and I am going to leave the "Taurus" and "SEL" tags off it, I think that would be a sharp touch.
As a side note, anybody near central Florida; I would recomend Don Ried Ford for sales. Great guys, no hassle, fairly knowledgeable. We will see how the service is when it is time for the free oil change.
As a owner of 2 Taurus currently, both of which are generation 4, I can understand how they can make you feel. Previously we owned a '89 & a '96. However I am of the opinion that the new "Taurus" is not really a continuation of the original line of the model. The "Taurus" of today is a re-badged 500. Ford found that the "Taurus" name sold and the 500 was not recognizable. I truly am glad that you are happy with the new car as it is a fine auto and only time will tell just how well it does. I hope that it earns the type of owner loyalty that the "original" Taurus holds. Here is a site for the Taurus; Taurus Car Club of America (America's #1 Online Taurus/Sable Resource!)
MY dad got one a few years back when they were 500's except he got the mercury version. He doesn't even have the 3.5L, they were available the next year, but that car still moves. They do better in almost all the police tests when compared to a Crown Vic, including trunk/interior space and acceleration. I'd love to get an AWD 3.5L, put a tuner and a few other small mods on it and it would be well over 300hp.
I got this one CPO, paid $400 over what they bought it for, but saved $800 off of what they put into it. According to thier invoices that they showed me. Then spent another $1000 to extend the Bumper to Bumper waranty another 6 yrs 75,000 miles. That should last me until 2012 with the amount of miles it will be driven each year, by then it will be paid off.
Pictures will come next week after I get a chance to wash it. Just had the windows tinted so there are water streaks all over it right now.
I hope you don't mean you got a factory certified warranty. Cause that would mean that your only covered upto 75,000 on the odometer. And not the 75,000 over what is currenlt showing. I found that out with my 03 taurus
By the way I meant to say congrats your new car. keep me informed in the future as to how you like it. I'd like get and awd limited. Just wondering if they're worth that kind of money though.
