for sometime now, my brakes have been really mushy. the pedal will go all the way to the floor, and in the past year i've done 2 new brake jobs on the front, one new one on the back, and adjusted the back. about a month ago my brake job included new borg-warner pads and rotors. sometimes the brakes are really hard, like you hit them, nothing, and you hit them again and it goes real far down, but stops the truck, and it got better for a while after the new brake job up front and rear adjustment, but is mushy again. so, what can it be? bad brake booster?
Double check the adjustment on the rear. Could also be air in the system as well as a bad RABS valve, master cylinder or booster. Lots of possibilities
After my accident, the mechanics found that my front brake hoses were deteriorating from the inside out. There was no visual indication that the hoses were going bad. I often wonder, if the brake hoses were good prior to the accident, would I have gotten into the accident in the first place?
The only symptoms I was having were exactly as you describe. Pedal would go to the floor ("soft pedal" feel) no matter how much the brakes were adjusted.
The "hard pedal" feel was due to my vacuum pump going out. When it went out, it the power booster with it.
IMHO, you have TWO issues that need to be addressed quickly.
the dump has a **** on the dash and you pull it and ur foots on the brake pedal, u can pull the pedal push back up, and it gets real firm. i wonder what it would take to put a locker like that on it?
