My truck has been setting for a while and I have always had oil pressure problems, and have had to install two oil pumps. I know that the engine is dirty and I am selling it. It is a F-150 95 model and I always run a motorcraft filter. Today I installed some Rotella 4-qts and 1 qt lucas and she is holding pressure. The truck does not have the power it should and has a check engine light on.
I need it to keep oil pressure since I am selling it it needs to run out good.
Any ideas???
Your tick at startup could be from the lucas, the stuff is way too thick. Rotella plus lucas is very thick. Has it always ticked at startup? You could try an engine flush but they can be risky, maybe some chemtool or bg engine flush? AutoRX is a great engine cleaner but won't do you any good because it takes time.
First, fix that check engine light and make sure it is tuned up(plugs, pcv, etc.). As far as the oil pressure, not sure.
i tried to cure a problem with lucas in my bronco and lost rods in it within 15 miles (after i had put lifters and a cam in it) never again will i do that.
There are a lot of people thet swear by lucas. I might try a 5w-30 instead or a 10w-30. the more I drive it, the better it gets at start up. About 5 sec. till oil pressure comes up!
Have you ever tried any Engine flushes?
There some good ones at there they all just about work all the the, before I had my engine rebuilt I would pour in a qt of type F and run that for awhile kept things clean.
Check the codes for the check engine light, it may not be related. It takes 2 minutes and if you don't have a scanner Autozone and most other parts shops will read them for free.
