You can check the BP with a gauge. I used to have one installed to watch BP with exhaust brake. There is a BP sensor in front of the HPOP reservoir. It leads down a steel tube to the front of the passenger side exhaust manifold. You can remove the sensor and put a "T" in there or just leave it off and plumb in a gauge. A boost gauge will do fine. You will definately not see more than 35psi or so. Even then it will not get that high. Usually BP runs about 2-4 lbs. more than boost during acceleration, maybe a tad more. That will be a good baseline for you.

I also agree you may have a fuel issue but check everything. Definately check your fuel pressure. I can't remember about the SD's but my OBS has a schrader valve on the side of the bowl that can be checked with a stick tire gauge. Now that I think about it when I looked at the wife's EX 7.3 I don't remember seeing one. Not sure, others here will know that answer for sure.

Do any of you pros here think it could be the low pressure oil pump? I am just thinking out loud... If the truck idles all day but dies when driven, that leads me to believe that there is a possibility that the HPOP reservoir could be running dry when driven. When it dies you can check the level in the HPOP reservoir by removig a small allen plug on the top of it. It should be appox. within 1/2" of the top. Just a thought.

I bought this truck brand new in 2001 and I've learned more about since I have been on this forum than I did all the rest of the time. Everyone has been a big help.
Thanks Again!

Mystery Problem

Problem Solved! It was the flexable line on the end of the metal line that goes into the fuel tank. It was cracked and sucking air. It could pull up enough fuel to idle but when you put a load on it, it could not keep up and run out of fuel. The fuel guage would show it fuel. just couldn't reach it.
Replaced flexable fuel line. Problem solved. Thanks to everyone who helped!

Thanks for the update. That's a new one but one to keep in mind as I'm sure it will come up again.
