My guess is that it is pretty cold where you are and your fuel is gelling.
If it's cold there get a bottle of a product called Diesel 911 and put some in your fuel. It will cure gelled fuel in a matter of minutes.

No actually it is warm here in Southeast Texas. I don't think it could be a gelling problem.
Thanks for your reply and I will remember the Diesel 911 in case it does turn cold here.

Is the OD on/off (on the gear selector) light blinking at any time? It almost sounds like a TQ converter problem.

It really sound like you have a failing fuel pump, or maybe a clogged fuel system. Next time it stops, turn key off right away and open fuel filter lid and see if you have any fuel in the bowl. It's a little bit of trouble, but without a fuel pressure gauge, it's about your best way to find out or rule out the fuel system.

Thanks, I will try that. Where can I get a fuel pressure guage? What kind? Where does it install?

I also had the CPS fail and sometimes it would work normal,, others it would cut out. A !@#$!@ to find it. Consider changing the CPS as a quick easy check. 1 bolt 1 wire connector. Will answer a lot of questions.

Some did, some didn't..depends on which state they were sold in. It also depends on the year of the truck.

Mystery Problem

My F-250 SD PS does have a cat. Converter. Mabe a Texas Law. Don't know.
My question is: How do you check the back pressure on the exhaust. My truck cranks and idles fine but won't go down the road far until it start losing
RPM's and it dies. I can wait 15 minutes and it will crank back up and will idle
but but when I start driving it-it will soon die again. My machanic thinks it
may be building up to much back pressure.

One sure way to find out if it is a back pressure issue is to remove the CAT and drive it.
