well I have an 2007 F150 FX4 with the 4.6l flairside truck. It has about 3500 miles on it and I was noticing it is not level. I parked it on a level surface and measured its height on both sides and the best i can figure is the left is higher by an inch than the right. I got it used so i crawled under it to see if they took it offroading and damaged something but could not find any tall tail signs of damage so i am guessing the problem is in the suspension. I know i could take it to the dealership but I want to figure this out myself because there are some other suspension changes i am planning on making so it may be the perfect time to do them.
I measure both side of the truck in the rear off the top bolt of the shock and showed there to be a one inch dif from left to right.
i have found some posts talking about this issue so it starting to look like a lazy leaf spring on the rear. as for a 4.6l with FX4 well i do not know what to say...there are stickers on the back of the truck stating FX4 and I know i have the 4.6 under the hood. maybe the previous owner put stickers on the truck.
like I said, there is absolutely 0 chance of it being a OEM FX4 if there is a 4.6 under the hood. prior owner is a d**k if he sold it as a FX4 intentionally
A FX4 have gauges all there own and should look like this pic.... if it doesn't it definitely isn't an FX4... They can be changed but its one way to help try to confirm it isn't an FX4
Just a quick thought on this, the vehicle may have been struck in the rear , old owner found a good looking FX4 box to throw on it. Explains both the 4.6 and FX4 and why it is sitting funny.
well here is the update...i was a retard and didnt read the back properly...it says STX....so that debate is now over. as for the problem at hand i went to a suspension shop today and they measured the truck...they measured it and there was a dif of 1.25" from side to side. I checked with the dealership and they know this issue is in some and the way the correct it is put a spacer on the lower side to get it within spec.
a difference of that much indicates that one of the leaf packs isn't arched properly.
You don't correct that kind of problem with using a spacer. I would demand a new set of leaf springs for both sides. If everything else checks out specification wise, that is the only safe way to fix the issue.
hey scrdrver...could you resize your pic? I've got a decent sized screen, but that pic is wide
