If you let your truck idle for any amount of time such as warming up in the morning it is a very good idea. I used to let mine idle here and there and pulled the egr valve and it was a sticky mess. I installed the high idle switch and let it idle a lot over a period of many months and it had a light dusting of carbon on it (look in my gallery for pics of the valve).

hmmm do you by chance have the link to the instructions? im gonna be finishing some installs of stuff on my truck and was wondering if i should add this and if its easy to do

It is very easy to do, it only takes 30 minutes or so. You will have to do a little searching for the wires. The one above the parking brake may be taped up with several other wires that are open ended. Just grab a good flashlight and check it out. If you look at my gallery there is a picture of the switch I used from Pepboy's.
