Anyone ever think to look at the stator and pickup inside the distributor... if there's moisture in there or those parts are going out.... well, it'll start acting up.
you pull the injector let run into a container for the time that Ford specifies and they have a set amount of fuel that should run in the container you want to do a quick voltage test first.
My brother's 2000 Ranger had a very similar problem in it's service history and replacing the Idle Air Control Valve and Thermostat solved the problem.
So I replaced these in my F-150, and the problem persists; I'm still at a loss.
i went to the junk yard and pulled a new speedometer! put it in my truck and all problems were corrected! the speedometer plug goes through the computer along with everything else, thats why alot of things were messing up! after putting that speedometer in the truck it ran like it just came out of the factory! if your speedometer is messing up this is deffenetly your problem if not then i dont know what to tell you! good luck
The electronic speedometers use a Vehicle Speed Sensor on the transmission, IIRC - maybe on the rear diff, but doubtful on that. Could be on either end or somewhere in between on the wiring harness, etc. This also ties in with power issues to the ECU (fusible link bad, bad ground connections, etc.) Glad you got yours fixed!
