Hey guys,
I dont know if this belongs here in or in the late model thread, but my desire to own a 53-56 F100 is making me think of alternative possibilites. Finding one that isnt a basket case, rusted out, or overpriced is dashing my hopes (that and the wife doesn't think I need another car, when I have a Mustang to finish). I know there are plenty of replacement parts, so anything can be fixed. The other issue is safety and retro-fitting modern components. I hope I dont strike a nerve with people on here, cause I love the old trucks and their character. But wouldnt it be cool if I could take a 97-03 stepside and attach a kit that would that would replace the front end with one that looks like the one-piece 53-56 front end? A modern truck with all the convienences, a more fuel efficient engine for daily driving duties, but still looked cool? Anybody know of anything like this? I saw a guy in Florida last year that bought a kit to turn his 96 thunderbird into a '50 Ford, so this shouldn't be a far fetched idea.

To each his own... those kits look awful! I've seen some that turn an S-10 into a Studebaker-like clone, and they don't really look that bad. But the proportions of a modern truck cab are just way too different from a '50's cab to pull it off. JMHO...
I've seen a truck like this at a car show. I did a search for Fuzion Motors and couldn't find a web site so they might be out of business. If you Google the phone number you get Bob Ragone, the owner of the company, maybe he's running it out of his house.
I also seen a truck like that at a car show in Barrie Ontario. It catches your eye but just don't look right when viewing it at differnt angles. The guy was wanting to give me information as how I could get the kit but I passed willingly. His I thought was built on a Ranger but viewing the infor bobj49f2 posted I think it was probably a 150
What you have described is a street rod, lol. If a '56 is what ya want, I say go find one, and build it. Add all the modern drivetrain and other stuff, and have fun. The journey is half the fun.
BTW, I've seen the Tbird/50 shoebox Ford combo, and they don't look good.
I haven't seen the Ford one, but the kit version I seen just didn't seem right. The lines didn't flow very well. Two things I wish though: 1 the Fr100, and 2 the Lincoln Mark IX.
We've all seen the Fr100 (I think)...here's the MK IX
I agree on the Concept '49, that was absolutely the most beautiful concept car Ford has produced in ages. Alas, my quest for a 53-56 will continue, but I feel guilty that my Mach 1 is getting no attention. I guess I need to quit making excuses and start making progress.
