Anyone seen the video yet of President Bush getting the shoes thrown at him at the press conference in Iraq?
Apparently the reporter took exception to something the President said and threw his shoe at him.....then threw the other one at him.
What I was impressed with was how GWB ducked away from the first one then stood rigt back in there and looked out at the guy who then threw the other shoe. He didn't cower behind the podium or run off the stage. Very stoic in my opinion.
I'd like to know what the penalty is in Iraq for such an act. I'd also like to know why the Secret Service Agents hadn't pounced on this guy before the FIRST shoe left his hand....
This is absolutely not intended to be political. Please don't make it or take it that way.
GWB's answer was that a this is how people in a free society react to things they don't like... or something like that.
Bush is getting up there in age, but I'd bet he woulda put the whoop on that idiot, if necessary. The guy is still in pretty good shape- for being over 60, anyway. I wouldn't want to go toe-to-toe with him.
While I don't really like Bush (no, I didn't vote for Obama), that is just one more reason why we should leave Iraq and let whatever happens those people....happen.
Sorry, but I see that a little differently. Thousands of our boys' (and girls'!!) lives have been lost. Letting it go to hell now means their lives were lost for nothing. I only hope this incoming administration sees it that way. They definitely need to step up, and are, but could certainly do it a bit more quickly.
Here's an example: The US Army combat team that was at the base with me over the summer is getting replaced by Iraqis. But you won't hear that news from the liberal media until Obama can take the credit for it...
That's the first thing I thought when I saw it. He didn't duck for cover. He looked him in the eye and said 'bring on the other". He's not intimidated by a weasel.
