I have been having trouble starting my truck in cold weather, but usually I can get it started but today thats not the case.I am in flagstaff az and its about 29 ot right now,I tried starting it for about 1 hour with another truck hooked up to it with jumper cables,it almost started a couple times but then it started making a weird noise and then just would not crank over anymore, its got plenty of juice in the batteries ,its like a relay or fuse took a dump, any help would be much appreciated.
My truck had a no-start issue just the other day also. I received good advice here like always, and ended up replacing my glow plug relay to fix my truck. I bought a Ford replacement yesterday and it was $111.00, but it did get my truck running again.
If your issue is anything like mine, start with the GPR....if that doesn't change anything, I would say get some new GP's. Now, keep in mind, this is only if your batteries and starter are good. If either of those are on their way out, start by replacing them. Make sure you have a nice weekend to spare in order to replace the GP's if you're going to. I kinda found that one out the hard way, LoL.
I am going to say your starter is hammered.? Not allowing to turn over fast enough, but the gpr may have failed as well also check batts with a load test.they may show good until need to work.replace them in pairs
I was having cold start problems as well. I replaced the glow plug relay, batteries, and metered all the glow plugs to confirm they were working. This morning it was about -5 and I got it started after cycling the glow plugs for about 2 minutes and giving it a little throttle right as it fired up.
If you are jumping off you could still have one battery bad drawing the power out of the starting capacity. Check your voltage while cranking if you go below 10.5V while cranking you have weak batteries and you may never get it started without changing batteries. It could be the GPR but do a voltage check.
