ok well to introduce myself i work in seismic exploration, this means we look for gas and oil. anyways i am a heavey equipment mechanic who just got a nice screw me promotion to being the head everything mechanic on my crew. now i am also in charge of fixing our fleet of 7.3 6.0 and 6.4 powerstrokes. i have a lot of experience with ford truck but not to much experience with engine problems on the ps. so basically i will be getting on here from time to time to pick your brains on problems i am having and on things i can do to make my 15000 lb f 550 a little more peppy.
ok well here is todays dillema for me. i was on my way out to the field and the truck just died while cruising at 50 on the expressway, it didnt chug no lights came on it just died, in fact i didnt even know it died until i went to throttle through a corner. i checked the fuel filters and the oil level and other things and so far it all looks good. give me any and all ideas you guys have, i am back at my motel today and i am gonna be messing with it all day. also what kind of scanner would you guys reccomend? is there a good programmer/scanner that i could buy? i know a very small amount about things such as the edge evolution and others. thanks again for the help, this was not an easy task for me to come here and ask for help lol my pride is bruised.
hahaha sorry i am a slow typer and i got tired of typing. it is an 07 f550 with the 6.0 again it just died no noise no lights just dead. while cranking it doesnt even try to fire.
oh and just a side point, what is up with hummer ads on a ford site? just thought that was funny
Have you checked all the fuses? If you scroll further down the main forum listing page, you'll find we have a diesel section down there that has places for the 7.3, 6.0, and 6.4.
I'd suggest you ask diesel specific questions down there since you'll likely get better responses from those who are familiar with whatever motor you happen to be having issues with.
hahaha i wish i were that lucky and stupid, i had about 40 gallons left when it died.. fuel pressure is fine all the way to the secondary filter. i hate my truck right now
My '06 PSD did the same thing as yours and it was an injector. In fact it did it twice first time injector #1, second time a few months later it was injector #7. Traded it in on a new '08 V10.
