Have a 97 150 Lariat. Leather started cracking within a year of purchase. Per Ford, leather cracking does not justify replacement. Has any else had this problem? Did ford do anyting about it????

I think this is considered normal wear and tear. Do you slide out of the seats or step in a sit? Also, leather needs to be taken care of, have you used and leather conditioners? Tack shops may be able recommend something.
As a supplier to Ford of vehicle care products, I would like to put in my two cents. One, all Ford products leather as well as 98% of the other manufacturers use a "clear-coated" leather. This is a polymer substance and any continual exposure to oils, body, or other wise deteroriates the coating and causes cracking. The use of products such as dimethal silicone dressings, Hyde Food, Tannery etc will accelerate the breaking down of the coating. Clean with a mild water based cleaner, wipe with a damp towel to remove any residue and if you wish to dress the seats, use a water based polydimethal siloxane dressing, with no petroleum distallate in the formula.
