electronic shift on the fly 4x
I'm just coming out the of 8 track era, what can any one tell me about the reliabilty of the "electronic on the dash" shift to 4wd vs the on the floor manual shift? Also...pros and cons!

I've had no problem with my electronic shift. Know of others who have had problems, but usually right after delivery. One trip to the service bay and they have been fixed fine. Good luck! I've got some old 8-tracks I'll send you! HA.

I've had no mechanical problem with mine yet... but I'll tell you one BIG problem.... the vehicle doesn't warn you that you are going over 40 mph in 4x4! The stupid electronic switch happens to be place perfectly behind the steering wheel so it's out of my line of site. So after I come out of my snow-ridden' driveway... I forget to switch it out of 4x4... and 80mph later- I realize I haven't turned it off.
Ford should have a warning ding that tells you that you are exceeding the max mph in 4x4. Hell- that stupid seat belt ding doesn't stop unitl you fasten the drivers side seatbelt!
