OK guys, I'm going to be replacing the batteries on the truck. I did a search and read a bunch of posts about it. I think I'm going to go with Interstate, made a few calls and I can get them with 1000 CCA rating for $120 each. Stock is 850 CCA as I recall and these are the original batteries. Getting five and a half years out of them is pretty good I think, but they had a hard time cranking the engine over after sitting all week and the temps down in the 20's the past day or so.
One post said that higher CCA rating was not necessarily better due to having thinner plates that may not hold up as well as thicker plates in a lower rated battery. Has anyone had a 1000 CCA battery get "shaken to death" by a diesel. Any input is welcome...
I put new batteries in my wife's truck today. Like you said. 5 1/2 years isn't bad for a set of batteries. I went to Ford and picked up a set of 850 cca Motorcraft batteries for $102 ea to replace the 2 year old Interstates in her truck. Napa batteries lasted about 2 1/2 years in my truck, and I've got about 1 year on the Autozone ones so far.
If we can get 5+ years out of Motorcraft, I figure why change? They come with a 3 year free replacement and a 100 month pro-rated warranty.

I am currently running SEARS TITANIUM(silver) 850 CCA that I paid like $90 each for.
I like that I can go to any SEARS store nationwide, my name is in their system.
INTERSTATE Batteries are great, too!

Same here. Mine were both dead when I got back from a week away. Got 2 Motorcraft Max 850 CCA batteries at the local dealer. I stuck with the Motorcrafts because I like them and the warranty.
I've never gotten more than 36 months out of my Motorcraft batteries. My 2000, 2003 and now my 2006. The batteries died last night, So I'm off to find some new batteries tomorrow.
