Battery Question

I have one of those cheap battery testers the one you plug into a cab power outlet. For the last week or so I have had it plugged in and it is showing me my state of charge is only 50% and my voltage is at 13.4 to 13.9/14.1 . OK I go get every thing checked, I have the Alt bench tested at Advance (stand right there and watch) checked good. Go to Walmart and have the batteries Load tested and they say there good (again right there with them). Now here's my question, My batteries are 1000A 850 CCA batteries, After the guy at Walmart hands me the papers that the tester spits out I see that the tester was only set for 780CCA. Will this make any difference in the test results? I asked them and they said it wouldn't. I'm . I'm right at 3.5 years any way so I'm going to have to bye any ways.

As always Thanks

Battery Test Results,

Pass. side Voltage: 12.83V
Measured: 719 CCA
Rated: 780 CCA
Temperature 120 F

Driver Side Voltage: 12.84V
Measured: 811 CCA
Rated: 780 CCA
Temperature 98 F

Rich, I'm not sure but one would think it should be set for the cca that's being tested, unless thats as high as their tester will go and he's blowing smoke.

Did they also disconnect the batteries to test them??

I have one of those plug in testers, and I am not sure of the accuracy. Go back to Advance and have the batteries tested again.

Didn't quite understand this ether, been doing a little research and found that some battery companies only require to load test at 1/2 the rated CCA.

Yes the batteries were disconnected from each other.

The testing was done at Walmart, But I'm thing of going some where else and having them retested

I wouldn't put too much stock in the plug-in monitor. 13.4V is a little on the low side of normal, but 13.9 to 14.1V is right around where you should be. Do you see a large drop in voltage as additional load is added?

Yea that's what mine will do, So the other night on my way home from work I stopped at Advance and got another one. And it showed me that my batteries were Charged, in need of recharge and dead all at the same time and the Alternator state showed too low (below 13.2 V) I had both plugged in at the same time and the one with the display was showing 13.8/9 Volts. I do need new Battery terminal ends and there on order from Remy Battery.
