The question is, will you still pass state inspection with the delete ?
Tried searching some info didn't really find any, although I thought I remembered reading people talking about switching back and forth at inspection time.
Considering the delete but whats the point if you have to switch back to get a sticker
Any first hand experience would be appreciated
You need to check your state web site for their emissions program. Here in Ct., there are no emissions testing for vehicles 10,000lbs GVW and up. Sure am glad I got the F-350 (11,400lbs.).
If they do emissions testing, you'll likely need the dpf. If they do a good visual inpsection, you'll need the dpf. If the 20 year old kid at the oil change place just does the bare minimum and there's nothing getting hooked to your tailpipe or OBDII port, you'll probably be ok.
Florida used to have state emission testing required for your registration renewal but they scraped it about 10 years ago. When they did have the testing it was a sensor shoved in your tail pipe like a scope during a colonoscopy test. The only thing they tested was the exhaust coming from your tailpipes. I did not have a diesel truck at the time. I had an F150 so I do not know if the testing was different for a diesel truck but I can't imagine that the testing they are conducting would identify a DPF delete tuning system.
However, I do believe that if the glorious EPA gets their way there will be more stringent testing in the future. Just my 2 cents worth.
Dont get caught. Most major state inspection shops, wether recquired to or not, check for emissions equipment. If they dont find it they can fail you for inspection if your missing factory components, just all depends on how big of a jerk they want to be about it, if they notice, give a crap, etc., Like most said, the 20yr old rice burner drivin kid whose gonna do your inspection wont notice even if he did hook up a computer and it told him, lol. Just the day in age in which we live
I checked with my Ford dealer (in PA) where I bought mine and get it serviced, they said
"...if it came on the truck when new, it has to be there to pass inspection..." in their shop.
PA shop are all in who you know i dont get along with the pa shops but the one in blairsville pa passed mine with no flaws and i had the delete i jsut didnt say a word to them and the local guy i know in kittanning will pass me as well like 31 YNOT said make friends with a shop to get PA inspection and stay away from allegheny county
