that sounds like a good idea at first because california has a bunch of crappy laws, but California has alot of big ports which fuel our economy that we would have to give up. plus my family and i live here.
You're right, you/they have an ENORMOUS economy but I TOTALLY believe they way they are regulating and taxing everything they will end up in a big hole, worse than the rest of the country.
They'll end up being more of a drain than a benefit in the long-run.
I love the line of "we're saving lives, because dock workers, drivers, etc... have higher rates of lung cancer because of the soot"
Bull, its not because of soot they have lung cancer, its because most of those kinds of workers aren't very self concered. They smoke, drink heavly, etc.., Now I'm not saying all of them do, but most of the people I know involved in trucking meet that criteria.
This is why I refuse to go to Cali. I used to haul in there every week to L.A. area or north and then bust *** to get to Salinas and get loaded. and have found out that I can make twice what I did by hauling seafood out of Seattle area or Portland area. GO CALI HOPE YOU CANT GET ANYONE TO HAUL THERE EVER AGAIN....... I KNOW I NEVER WILL AGAIN...Been driving for 13yrs and for the last 2 you cant pay me enough to go there.Do miss them Mexicans washing my ride though....
If you stop and think about the movie industry, the ports, the farming and the high tech in Silicon Valley.
Now consider the revenues those industries generate.
Then look at the high dollar property and consider the tax base that generates.
Looks like the California government model is one we should all look at very closely and make sure our states stay as far away from it as possible.
To many things start in California and migrate east.
just incase you didnt know, but FTE is based in you got it So Cal.......no Cali no FTE....but i agree that the laws are over the top, but we have a much greater number of people and cars and truck then anywhere else for our size, and the air does get bad here some times.....
oh they have, you have to get smoged every 2 years now not every 4 like it was, and the government is making the auto industry increase their total average MPG for all cars and trucks....
Believe me I've seen plenty of California transplants here in Oregon and they HAVE ruined this state.
You ask them why they moved up here and they say it's because California is so screwed up. Then they change our state INTO K-alifornia!
Come to think of it, that's why I left Washington state for Texas. Now I end up in CA -- go figure
