How about we just kick California out of the U.S.
Mexico can have them.
Give a year grace period for the smart ones to get out then we shut the border down.

It's not just vehicles that they have rediculous requirements on.
If you are a hundgun manufacturer and you want to sell your product in K-alifornia you have to submit (I think somewhere between 5 and 15) of your gun to the state to be tested ----to destruction. You will never see these items again.
So if you are a small manufacturer and you want to sell in the largest market in the country you have to donate a HUGE sum to the state so they can see if your product is "safe" enough to be sold there. Makes no difference what the track record of your firearm is, or anything else for that matter. AND if you make various models of the SAME gun a sample of those must be sacrificed also.

I am a Gunsmith, If I want to ship a firearm to a LICENSED DEALER there I have to get California's approval from the Attorney General or some such dumb @$$ before I do. Guess how many guns I ship to California...it's less than one.
Of course that's what they want, so mission accomplished!
If any of you are not aware it is legal to buy a long gun (rifle or shotgun) over the internet (handguns can only be sold directly dealer-to-dealer) as long as it is shippeed to a licensed dealer. The dealer in turn makes sure all of the correct and necessary paper work is done and all Federal and State laws are adhered to. Many sellers post on their ad "If you are in California don't bother to bid" or they charge A LOT more to ship to a California dealer because it's such a hassle.

I went to a Reno gunshow when I was working for another gunshop before I started my own. There were dealers asking people what state they were from before they would sell them a high-capacity magazine. If they had come over from California they wouldn't sell them one. I'm not sure what they were afraid of. We were in NEVADA, California had these guys buffaloed into thinking they could do something to them. California actually THINKS they can prosecute and/or intimidate people for what they do in OTHER states.
They also require a sample fired case and bullet to be entered into the firearms data base for each handgun. No big deal there except thet you can alter a gun in about 10 minutes so that none of those tool markings will match what is in their data base.
OH and it costs MILLIONS of dollars to maintain said base and contrary to what you see on any of the THREE CSIs, it has NEVER, I repeat NEVER, solved a crime. What a GREAT investment!

Barrett Firearms (makers of .50 Cal. rifles in use by civilians, military and police) had a nice way of dealing with them.
He WILL NOT service any rifle owned by ANY California law enforcement agency until the rights taken away by the STATE are restored. California and it's governator made .50 cal. rifles illegal in the state. This is the guy that played the Terminator 3 times, Predator, Commando, Last Action Hero and many other extremely violent movies by the way.

This is exactly the kind of crap that makes other states HATE them. They are socialistic, concieted, over-bearing (not to mention: flat-out STUPID) butt-heads.
I'm not talking about all of the people but 99% of all of the "celebrities" and 99.9% of the politicians. California as a whole has screwed this country up more than most other sources combined.

Remember, if the "smart ones" leave they will be changing the laws at their next home.

Leave them there, give Mexico the state and the people.

that sounds like a good idea at first because california has a bunch of crappy laws, but California has alot of big ports which fuel our economy that we would have to give up. plus my family and i live here.

Not me

I'm in CA trying to get ahead money-wise. I'd leave here in a second if I could, but it looks like it'll be a couple years before I can go back to my place in Texas. This year I expect to pay more the $20,000 in *STATE* income tax, and yet I can barely afford rent for a tiny 80+ year old house with no heat. Oh, and by the way, the state is asking the feds for a bail out because they aren't getting enough "revenue". In case no one noticed, California sucks...

I'm all for a cleaner environment. But as usual, they can't figure out a plan that even remotely makes sense and doesn't screw over hard-working real people.

I mean smart by MY standards.

Believe me I've seen plenty of California transplants here in Oregon and they HAVE ruined this state.
You ask them why they moved up here and they say it's because California is so screwed up. Then they change our state INTO K-alifornia!
I have some good ones come into my gun shop though. They're the "smart" ones I'll let leave.
You know, when I'm king of the U.S. LOL
