Which is the wire on the MLPS that engages the backup lights? I got a pair of 3x5" floods up above the bed (right behind the cargo light actually) that I have on a manual switch, but I'd like to have them come on automatically when I put the trans in reverse, so I need to tap into the wire from the trans and use the voltage to trigger the relay for the floods. So yah, which wire I on the MLPS harness I need for that?
Done! It's like 45 here now, kinda rainy but not really, perfect weather for work under the truck - the wire I needed turned out to be a black one with a purple-ish tracer, not so much pink, but yah, y'all were correct. Now when I put the trans in reverse my flood lights come on, and when I turn the floods on my backup lights come on, I'm happy with the result. Connection at the splice is insulated with heat-shrink of course, just like all my other chassis wiring mods, so it should be good against snow and salt and stuff.
Well, that's easily fixed, I can always pull the bulbs off the backup lights then, they're about worthless anyways. That, and cops here usually let you slide with stuff if you can persuade then you're doing it for safety reasons, I've been pulled over many times for my quad-low headlights in my Lincoln and never got a ticked just for that reason.
